The state of Maine has it's own EMT and Paramedic Exams and does not utilize the NREMT or National Registry Exam that many other states have converted to. Maine will still accept a National Registry Certification under rules of reciprocity as it will an active EMT license from another state (given all the other criteria for Maine certification are met).

Maine Emergency Medical Services requires that an EMT or Paramedic pass a multiple choice examination as well as a practical exam like the National Registry NREMT. In fact you study for the Maine EMT practical exam from the exact same skill sheets provided on the NREMT website so the test must be identical.
