Becoming a Certified EMT in Kentucky requires that you fulfill the initial EMT Certification Requirements. Part of which is to fill out the Kentucky EMT Certification Application. You must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Certification also requires that you graduate from a Kentucky approved EMT or Paramedic course that is based on the D.O.T. Curriculum for EMT Basic or Paramedic. Most importantly though you will need pass the NREMT written and practical exam and become a Nationally Certified EMT prior to filling out the certification application.

The NREMT or National Registry Exam is administered by computer and can vary in length from 70 to 150 multiple choice questions that are delivered one at a time to the candidate. The exam will need to be scheduled on the NREMT website once you have completed the course requirements.
