EMT and Paramedic candidates in the state of Florida must be licensed and certified. You must first fill out the necessary application and send it in with the $75.00 fee for the application and EMT exam. You must show proof that you graduated from an approved EMT or Paramedic course and that your CPR certification is current.

Once the Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services has received your information and payment you will be able to access the NREMT website to check for your schools authorization for you to take the test. Once the Florida Certification office gives their approval you can contact of of the computer testing centers to make an appointment to take the NREMT (National Registry Exam) . The NREMT is an adaptive, computer delivered test. You will be delivered one question at a time. If you get the question correct you will be given a slightly more difficult question. If your answer is incorrect the program will give you a slightly easier question. There is no predetermined number of questions on the EMT exam. It can range from 70-150 and the testing application automatically stops when it has determined that you have been above or below the pass line for 93%.
