Hello, I am a Utah Intermediate and sideline as a SWAT medic. I am looking to take the NR test but don't know whether I should take the I85 or the I99. My training was from the I99 book and I can administer valium, morphine, zofran, epi, atropine, lidocaine, D50, albuterol, diphenhydramine, and all the basic stuff. I do rythem interpritation but only with 4 leads, I would have to learn 12 lead if thats what used by the test but would be no problem. I can establish IVs, intubate, manually defibrilate, and do needle decompressions, I have also been trained to do cricothyrotomys but that was at tactical school not my Intermediate course. I am also ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS certified. I have heard that Utah's Intermediate is equivilent to the I85,but from what little I've been able to find I am not sure it sounds like we do alot more then the I85. My instructor said that he thinks I could probably do the I99 and that he believes that that is closer to what we are but he isn't sure as he's not very familiar with the NR stuff. So can anyone enlighten me to what the difference is? I know it doesn't cover everything, but from what I've posted which level does it sound like I am closest to? Anyhelp would be great.

I'm an Intermediate-85 in Nevada. we dont have 99's. I-99 is pretty much almost like a medic compared to our 85. 85's can start IV's, administer epi (for sever allergic reactions), albuterol, benedryl, narcan, D50, glucagon, aspirin, and all the basic stuff too (hope im not forgetting anything lol).

as for which Utah requires (85 or 99) im not too sure. its really not hard to find at all. id say just google it. hope that helped
