Well I took my computer based EMT-B test today and failed. I had a 90 average in my class but when I went to take exam I was really lost. I scored
Airway and Breathing -Near Passing
Cardiology -Near Passing
Trauma -Below Passing
Medical -Above Passing
OB/PED -Below Passing
EMS Operation -Above Passing

Not to my question how many categories do I need to get above passing or near passing to pass exam. Still a little confused on how to achieve a passing test.

Also just joined site membership area and any suggestion on what test to take, area to focus on, section of book to read.

THANKS

Welcome to our site! I'm sorry to hear that you didn't pass your NREMT test. To answer your question about which categories need to be above passing is simple. You have to be above passing in all categories to pass. Now, this isn't as scary as it sounds.

So start taking practice tests and focus on the areas you were below passing first. We have found that users who consistently score above 85% on our practice tests have the highest rate of success on the NREMT exam. So see where you are at. Then just practice, practice, practice.

I would also encourage you to check out the link on the right side of the home page entitled "NREMT Test". This will really help you start to understand the nuts and bolts of how the NREMT test is constructed. Keep up the hard studying and you will succeed. We will be here to help you along the way. If you have any problems or need support, just use our helpdesk. It gets you a fast track ticket to our EMS professionals who will work to resolve any problem you have.

Thanks

I have been taking several Airway and breathing question and seem to be lacking the knowledge and scoring well below the 85% that should get me passing. I was wondering I have the Brady Emergency Car Book 10th edition. Any suctions on what chapters I should reread or what section does most of the questions come from that would be in my book.

Thanks again

I would recommend that you read your chapters on respiratory emergencies, as well as review the anatomy of the human airway. Don't depend on your textbook to be the 'bible' of information. Use the internet. When you get a question on one of our tests that you don't know the answer for, just do a search online to read all about it. Wikipedia is a great free resource and 'most' of their information is correct. Also look up in your book to find information. We use information from multiple EMS textbooks, as well as Medical Journals, magazine articles, and many other sources. We are trying to give you a 'full' look at what may be on the NREMT test. Just keep up the studying and you'll see those test scores improve over time.
