17. A person with diabetes mellitus may become very thirsty as a result of what?

Your Answer: Hyperglycemia
Incorrect

Correct Answer is: Polyuria

Other answers:
Low blood sugar
Uptake inhibitors

Rationale: Frequent urination, in an attempt to rid the body of excess sugars, makes a person very thirsty.

Question.... Polyuria is a byproduct of Hyperglycemia, and as a result, a better (more correct) than the one given? You (typically) cannot have polyuria without being hyperglycemia with Type I diabetes.

Can you give a better rational?

Thanks
